Tsuchishio formation is composed mainly of silty mudstone and is intercalated with twelve thin tuff beds and thirteen pumice zones. The lithology of tuff beds shows the gradual change from rhyolitic at the lower to the andesitic at the upper in the Tsuchishio formation.
Judging from the sequence of lithofacies and biofacies contained, the Tsuchishio
formation is thought to be the sediments at the regression following the transgression.
