Abstract Through the present survey from 1981 to 1984, 749 proturan specimens were collected from 35 localities (Fig. 1) in the Chichibu district, Saitama Prefecture, Central Japan. The collection comprises 14 species; Nipponentomon nippon, N. uenoi, Filientomon takanawanum, Kenyentulus japonicus, Baculentulus morikawai, B. tosanus, Eosentomon asahi, E. babai, E. udagawai, E. sakura, E. tuxeni, E. kumei, E. tokiokai and Sinentomon yoroi, and following unidentified species; Kenyentulus sp., Baculentulus sp. 1, Baculentulus sp. 2, Neocondeellum sp. and Eosentomon spp. The present proturan fauna is of typical representatives in the warm-temperate and temperate zones of Japan.
